It’s a global style choice that affects the entire document - once made to the doc, subsequent documents will be the same until you change it. Interesting that you claim Apple’s TextEdit (part of the OS) defaults to rtf and cannot produce it. Although 25 still works over Mojave, I use 26 on my 5K iMac Pro - quite an improvement. In fact, I’ll go out on a limb and state that many of the improvements in 26 that allow Finale to display correctly on 5K monitors (Mac only) and web pages cannot happen with simple text. It’s a bug only if the developers built 26 to support plain text lyric entry. Finale's Lyrics window should accept plain text, as it did until recently.< This is a bug in Finale, as far as I am concerned. BBEdit, TextEdit, or most text editors, cannot produce rich text. TextEdit and Pages produce rich text by default. >…The workround is to only paste into Finale's Lyrics from an app which is producing rich text. > when I convert it to plain text, then the copy/paste behaves like with TextWrangler: CR/LF are gone but the lyric font choice of Finale is respected. But Finale keeps the font that was used in Textedit, not the lyrics font that was chosen in Finale. > when I type lyrics in it while it's NOT in plain text mode, then the copy/paste works with CR/LF intact. can correctly hyphenate dutch words at the end of a sentence but none of them have the option to hyphenate every word in a chosen textfragment, as far as I know.ĭavid Cusick: TextWrangler is a plain text editor, Apple's Textedit is not. Hij sprak, mijn lief, hier ben ik heel al-leen Op maan-dag-och-tend ging hij naar haar heen Hij sprak, mijn lief, hi-er ben ik heel alleen Op maandagochtend g-ing hij naar haar heen Mike Rosen: the Lyric Hyphenator is not an option, it only works for english lyrics, mine are in dutch/flemish and the hyphenator clearly has no clue. ) and copy/paste the lyrics from Finale to TextWrangler, the CR/LF characters are there. When I copy/paste the other way around, they are gone again.Īnd please don't say that a re-write of the Lyrics Window is on its way and will fix it all, that promise was already made in the previous century. it is hard to position the cursor correctly. When I corrrect this in the Lyrics Window (. Since I had to upgrade to V25/26 due to compatibility issues with a newer MacOS, this presents a problem: the invisible line-feed or carriage return characters are stripped when I paste the lyrics into the Lyrics WIndow and the last word of a sentence is attached to the first word in the next sentence, therefore ruining the position of the syllables under the music notes. This worked fine in all versions of Finale I bought so far (since Finale 1998) up to version 2014.5 I use click assign to put the syllables under the notes. I copy/paste the lyrics verse by verse and chorus by chorus in the Lyrics Window. I found that TextWrangler was the best choice because it has no fancy formatting of its own and uses the lyrics font that was chosen in Finale after pasting the text in the Lyrics Window. I prepare all the lyrics in a dedicated word-processor, including hyphens to separate syllables in every word if necessary. I'm using Finale for over 20 years now and learned early on after many crashes that typing lyrics directly in a score was not the way to go.
